K9 Ozzy was paired with Deputy Daniel Barden and the two completed their certification and training program as prescribed by the Oregon Police Canine Association. The team began patrolling Douglas County on Sunday, June 7, 2020. "I am really excited about the opportunity to serve our communities with K9 Ozzy; he is already proving to be a great partner," said Deputy Barden. "We look forward to meeting with community members and being a resource in Douglas County". The Sheriff's Office K9 Program is supported by private donations, Friends of Umpqua Valley Police K9 Programs and various businesses in the community. "We are extremely grateful for the support we receive from our community, which allows us to have a successful K9 program," Sheriff Hanlin said.
