5 More Deaths, 61 Douglas County Residents Now Hospitalized
8:27 PM ยท Aug 20, 2021Five more Douglas County residents have died and 61 remain hospitalized with COVID-19. Douglas County recorded another 245 cases on Thursday and 140 cases on Friday. Over the past 7 days, Douglas County has had the highest number of cases per 100k residents of any county in Oregon at 1,057, and the second-most of any county on the West Coast. Show of Support for CHI Mercy Hospital Staff and healthcare workers "We need your help, grace, and kindness.โ That was the message from CHI Mercy Health earlier today after sharing a heartbreaking story and the toll it's taking on their staff. So, Friday evening from 6:15 pm - 7:30 pm, we are going to gather outside the CHI Mercy Health Campus in Roseburg to show our support for all these healthcare workers and to communicate to them in a small way how much we appreciate their efforts. Please do not park on Mercy's campus and let's try to stay in the vicinity of across the street from the main Mercy entrance along the sidewalk, and by the Cancer Center entrance. It would be awesome to have signs of thanks towards our healthcare workers. Let's show our love and support for them during this difficult time! It would be good to wear masks.
