Position Summary: The Journeyman Advanced Automotive Technician is responsible for performing advanced diagnostics and complex automotive repairs while maintaining high standards for accuracy, efficiency, safety, and customer satisfaction. This role supports shop operations through technical expertise, collaboration, and mentorship of lower-level technicians.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities





Perform complex automotive repairs and maintenance tasks across a variety of vehicle makes and models.



Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues using advanced diagnostic tools and techniques.



Complete repairs accurately, efficiently, and in accordance with company standards.



Assist in training and developing entry-level and intermediate technicians.



Communicate clearly with service advisors regarding diagnostics, repair needs, and recommendations.



Stay current with technical service bulletins, repair procedures, and evolving automotive technology.



Properly document all work performed in the shop management system.



Follow all company policies, safety standards, and operational procedures.



Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.



Follow the 4 C’s (Concern/Complaint, Cause, Correction, Confirmation) in automotive repair in all diagnostics, repair, documentation, and customer communication.



Perform other duties as assigned to meet business needs.

Qualifications





Minimum of 4 active ASE certifications in areas of specialization. 



Minimum of 2 years of professional mechanical experience.



Strong diagnostic, analytical, and problem-solving skills.



High level of attention to detail and quality workmanship.



Excellent communication and customer service skills.



Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.

ASE Certification Requirement





Required ASE certifications must be active upon hire or obtained within 90 days of the date of hire.



Failure to maintain or obtain required ASE certifications within the required timeframe may result in:





Reassignment to a lower pay scale or different position, or



Termination of employment, at the Company’s discretion.



Obtaining or maintaining certification requirements are a condition of employment and continued eligibility for this role and pay scale.

Physical & Work Environment Requirements





Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, reach, and work on vehicles for extended periods.



Ability to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted.



Ability to safely operate vehicles, diagnostic tools, and shop equipment.



Work is performed in a shop environment with exposure to noise, fumes, chemicals, moving vehicles, and varying temperatures.

Tools & Equipment





Employees are expected to supply and maintain personal hand tools necessary to perform job duties.



Specialty tools, shop equipment, and diagnostic systems are provided by the Company unless otherwise specified.



Employees are responsible for maintaining tools in safe, working condition.
