Set scores were 25-14, 25-17, 25-23. Senior Moriah Michaels had 10 kills and eight digs while fellow senior Joleen Crume had 16 kills and seven digs for the Wolves (29-3). Michaels and Crume both made first team all-tournament. Shandiin Newton had nine assists and Fiona Ketchem had five digs. Freshman Bailey Stufflebeam had eight aces. Ashtyn Slater had 10 kills and Megan Kruzic had 26 assists. Slater and Kruzic made second team all-tournament. “It was pretty exciting, we played good today,” Days Creek coach Gloria Kruzic said. “Our seniors have been rock solid all tournament long, they deserve a lot of credit. It was a fun day, we came out relaxed so I was really proud of them and it was a great way to end the season.” “Being able to end my senior year at final site and get 3rd in the state of Oregon is a huge goal and achievement for Days Creek volleyball,” Michaels said. “We’ve worked all season long for placing this high. We wouldn’t be here without our coaching staff, Gloria and Rachel as well as the love we have for one another on and off the court. We have given all the glory to God this season, that’s what has gotten us this far.” Days Creek beat Perrydale on Friday to advance to the semifinal against St. Paul but the Wolves lost in straight sets. “I have no regrets we played hard all weekend long,” Gloria Kruzic said. “Our goal from the beginning was we want to compete at state. I feel like we accomplished that, we didn’t fold we competed. I’m very proud of the season the girls have had. It’s pretty fun to coach when you have this great group of girls.” Days Creek went 14-0 in the Skyline League and won the league tournament along with the McKenzie tournament.
