Roseburg Boys Basketball Win Season Opener

5:47 AM · Dec 5, 2019

The Roseburg boys basketball team defeated Eagle Point 84-59 Wednesday night at Stewart W. Robertson Memorial Gymnasium in their season opener. “We started out a little bit slow I think nerves played into that with not having a lot of varsity experience,” Roseburg coach Jordan Humphreys said. “We started to get into a flow, our defense improved and we got some easy offense off of our defense.” Zach Martin led the Indians (1-0) with a game high 30 points and went 5-5 from the free throw line and hit one 3-pointer. Attreyu Pinard had 15 points and 10 rebounds. Matt Parker added three 3-pointers. “We pressed most of the game, we got a lot of unforced errors,” Humphreys said. “They hit seven three pointers in transition so we need to work on our transition defense. The third quarter was huge for us as we outscored them 27-13.” It was Humphreys first win as head coach of Roseburg. The Indians led 16-9 after the first quarter and 37-24 at halftime. Roseburg went 10-16 from the free throw line. Roseburg plays at Century on Friday at 7 p.m. Team Fouls – Eagle Point 16, Roseburg 18. Eagle Point 7 3-point FGs, Roseburg 4- 3 point FGs.
