(DFPA) Wildfire affects all Douglas County residents! Your voice is needed! Douglas County is currently updating its Community Wildfire Protection Plan (CWPP). A CWPP is a plan developed collaboratively between communities and local, county, state, federal, and tribal agencies to identify wildland fire hazards in our communities, prioritize measures to reduce those hazards, and recommend projects for homeowners and communities to reduce risk in areas where forests and homes meet, also known as the wildland urban interface (WUI). Douglas County officials, in conjunction with local fire agencies, will be hosting five open house events throughout the county in January. Each open house event starts at 6:00 pm and will be held on the following dates / locations: January 8th: Tri-City Rural Fire Department, 140 S. Old Pacific Highway, Myrtle Creek January 15th: Glide Rural Fire Department, 18910 N. Umpqua Highway, Glide January 16th: MAC Center, 120 Marina Way, Winchester Bay January 23rd: Winston City Hall, 201 NW Douglas Blvd, Winston January 28th: Yoncalla Community Center, 400 Main Street, Yoncalla The open house events are designed to give citizens an opportunity to meet their fire local firefighters, learn about wildfire preparedness and prevention, and to provide input and ideas into the CWPP update.
