The Douglas County Board of Commissioners, along with the Douglas County Parks Department are excited to announce that construction on the new boat ramp vault restroom, as well as the remodeled day use area restroom has been completed and they are now open to the public. Utilizing a Marine Board Grant, the Douglas County Parks Department was able to replace a 37-year-old vault restroom adjacent to the boat ramp at the park, with a new restroom facility. (The old restroom had been partially closed last year due to the need for major repair work.) The newly installed vault restroom features two handicap - unisex accessible units. Additionally, the Parks Department included the remodel of the day use area restroom facility at the same time, in order to improve the accessibility of the restroom facilities for all users. “Ben Irving is a popular year round park. We are thankful for the Marine Board Grant and the users of the park in being able to improve these valuable assets for current and future users,” commented Parks Director Rocky Houston. Ben Irving County Park is located of Hwy 42, near the community of Tenmile, about 15 miles west of Winston. The park is open seven days a week from sunrise to sunset. It features a boat ramp, swim area and day use park with swings, sand volleyball and picnic amenities. The reservoir is a popular fishing and recreational boating destination.
