Coronavirus Update for Wednesday April 8th
Good news for Douglas County again today with no new cases. Total cases remain at 12. Zero deaths. Oregon recorded 5 more deaths and 58 new cases bringing the states total to 1,239. The US recorded 1,940 deaths for the day for a total of 14,788. Approximately 4k people have died in the past two days in the US alone from this virus. The low numbers for Douglas County are something to soberly celebrate. We don't want a lot of cases and we certainly don't want a lot of deaths. Where we are at right now has been hard earned and has been painful on everyone. We need to remain vigilant and not waste our gains. Just know our officials both locally and at the state level are working tirelessly behind the scenes to respond to this disaster as well as plan a path forward. They are acutely aware of how painful the disruption continues to be in all of our lives. If you must go out to a location where other people will be near you, please wear a mask. Wearing a mask is like wearing a seatbelt for someone else. We don't wear them because we know something bad will happen, but because we don't know. If we can get everyone to wear a mask when they are out at the stores etc, it could significantly reduce the spread of the virus here locally. Hang in there everyone
