BLM and Umpqua National Forest Trails Remain Open

10:37 PM · Apr 13, 2020

The Bureau of Land Management trails along with the Umpqua National Forest trails remain open to the public despite developed recreation sites being closed. BLM developed recreation sites are closed including restrooms, campsites and developed day use areas. They are not citing people for parking at those locations. There is no dispersed camping allowed either at any campgrounds. Despite the closure of these facilities, multiple opportunities remain for the public to enjoy the outdoors as long as visitors heed orders, guidance, and advice of local and state officials and the Centers for Disease Control. These Day Use Areas remain closed but parking is still allowed at these locations to access hiking trails: Cavitt Creek Falls Day Use Area E-Mile Day Use Area Island Creek Day Use Area Lone Rock Boat Launch North Bank Comstock Day Use Area North Bank West Entrance Osprey Boat Ramp Susan Creek Day Use Area Susan Creek Falls Day Use Area Swiftwater Day Use Area Wolf Creek Falls Picnic Area Social distancing guidelines remain in place on the trails. For the local list of campgrounds or day use areas that are closed you can go to: https://www.blm.gov/press-release/blm-roseburg-district-temporarily-closes-developed-recreation-facilities In the Umpqua National Forest all developed day use areas are closed including the parking lots and trail heads. A developed recreation site is one in which a man-made structure has been erected such as bathrooms, picnic tables or fire pits. People are free to use the trails and all roads in the forest and to use dispersed camping areas. Where it’s safe and legal to do so, visitors can park on the side of the road and access Umpqua National Forest trails that way.
