Downtown Business Looks to Sweeten Up a Difficult Time

The Umpqua Sweets & Treats retail space may be closed but the business continues to serve their customers with products such as a cheesecake of the week, jam, fudge and more. “For Easter we did a pre-order deal where we offered pick up or curbside delivery,” Owner Cody Dolan said. “We offered free deliver to entice people to make orders. We also did a lot of shipping as well.” On a weekly basis partner Mandi Dolan has been doing a cheesecake of the week which is a personal size cheesecake that is on preorder. Orders can be made through Monday to be ready for pickup or delivery on Tuesday afternoon. Pick up hours are between 2-4 p.m. Some other menu items are posted Champion Club Farms Home Delivery/Pickup Facebook group. This week they’re offering a quarantine survival box. They are $20.00 each and will contain 1/4 lb. peanut butter fudge, a bag of Squatchmellows, 2 jumbo mint patties, and a Sea Salt Caramel Toffee bark. They're also offering Strawberry Jam, Blackberry jam, and Blackberry Jalapeño Jam in 4oz. Jars for $3.50, 8 oz. jars for $6.00. “We’ve been doing delivery for most of the people. It allows us to offset our overhead, we’re not making anything but we're not losing anything,” Cody Dolan said. “It allows us to try to get through this. For us we have to be flexible and adaptable, the sooner we get through it the sooner we get back to it. We feel relatively fortunate because some people are closed. We could be open but we want to stay safe. It’s working for us in the short term but we’re looking forward to getting back to normal. We’ve had great support from our customer base.
