138 Grill A Refuge in Glide During the Archie Creek Fire
9:21 PM · Sep 13, 2020138 Grill in Glide has been a refuge to the Glide community this week staying open to provide meals, coffee and a break from the chaos from the Archie Creek Fire this last week. On Tuesday evening, 138 Grill owner Christina Hill and her husband Aaron Hill turned the open sign to closed, locked the doors and went home for the night, so they could open for business the next day as usual, or so they thought. The next morning when they pulled up to the restaurant they saw some people across the street crying so they went over and asked if they were ok. “They told us about the devastating news, we invited them over to come inside and get a warm meal.” Christina Hill said. “We decided then we wanted to jump in and help, so we started making breakfast and lunch, for anyone that needed something to eat.” 138 Grill has been taking donations since Wednesday night, from food and drinks to personal hygiene items. “We started feeding people and opening our doors with a free meal that we have cooked to provide to the public, firefighters and others affected by the fire free of charge,” Christina Hill said. “I feel that it is in times like this that we as a community come together and stand strong and be there for one another more than ever.” 138 Grill is open to those in the local community affected by the fire, just not the general public yet. “To be able to put a smile on a person’s face means a lot to my family, myself and everyone here at 138 Grill and the wonderful volunteers that I have.” Christina said. 138 Grill doesn’t have a specific date when they will stop serving food but will continue serving and helping anyway they can. Anyone wanting to donate items they can send them to PO Box 712, Glide OR 97443 or people can donate money to Christina Hill Venmo account @Christina-Hill-153. https://venmo.com/Christina-Hill-153
