The Archie Creek Fire is now 55% contained. Along with the hard work of all the crews on this fire, the recent rain has definitely assisted in increasing the containment of the fire. Here is the latest info on the fire: The Mt Thielsen Fire is now 30% contained. Here is the latest info on that fire. Air quality in Douglas County has drastically improved this week and stands at 21 this morning! Smoke could return a little this weekend and into next week as high temperatures up in the 90’s return. The recent rainfall has helped lower the fire danger in Douglas County to Low according to DFPA on Thursday. Roseburg School District is bringing back kindergarten students to in-person classes starting this next week. Grades 1-3 will follow on October 5th as long as Douglas County continues to meet current state metrics. Douglas County hired a community recovery coordinator to help local wildfire victims and their family’s. Roseburg Public Library announced they were expanding their hours. North Umpqua Highway (138) reopened this week. I hope this email finds you all well. It's so nice to have clean air again and to have some of the stress from the fires gone.
