Roseburg Public Library Implements Hotspot Program

8:09 PM · Oct 9, 2020

(City of Roseburg) ROSEBURG, OR – Roseburg Public Library is pleased to announce it is connecting more community members to technology with a mobile Wi-Fi hotspot lending program through April 2021. Patrons age 18 and older who have a Roseburg Public Library card in good standing are invited to submit an application for one of 37 hotspots by 8 p.m. on Thursday, October 22, 2020. Library staff will select randomly from all submissions, and the selected patrons will receive an activated hotspot at no cost through about April 30, 2021. When the program ends, the user may return the hotspot to the Library. Or, they may keep the hotspot and initiate a personal contract with a provider to continue service at the user’s cost. Each Library cardholder is eligible to receive only one hotspot. Those selected to receive a hotspot must sign a Wi-Fi Hotspot User Agreement. The hotspot includes 25 GB of data per month; data is limited (throttled) when that threshold is reached. Applications are available on the Library’s website at www.roseburgpubliclibrary.org, on the Library’s Facebook page @roseburglibrary, and at the Library’s main desk. Completed forms must be dropped off at the Library or emailed to library@cityofroseburg.org. The program is made possible through CARES Act funding provided by the Institute of Museum and Library Services and administered by the State Library of Oregon.
