High Surf Advisory Issued For Oregon Coast Friday Until Monday; 25-30 Ft Waves
(NWS Medford) A series of storms will bring very dangerous beach conditions this weekend and into next week. Breaking wave heights of 23 to 27 ft are expected through the weekend, increasing to up to 30 ft late Sunday into Monday. Use extreme caution near the beach and stay away from the ocean. Jetties, rocks and logs are NOT safe. NEVER turn your back on the ocean! Here is the official advisory: ...HIGH SURF ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 4 PM PST SUNDAY... * WHAT...Large breaking waves of 25 to 30 feet are expected. * WHERE...Beaches along the South Central Oregon Coast, including the beaches of Curry, Coos, and Douglas Counties. * WHEN...From 4 PM today to 4 PM PST Sunday. * IMPACTS...Large breaking waves will create hazardous conditions along and within the surf zone, and could inundate beaches and low lying shorelines.
