The Parrott House is creating two Airbnb’s along with a new boutique grocery and gift shop with specialty items that can’t be found anywhere else in the Umpqua Valley. The Parrott House will close their restaurant for the next two weeks as Douglas County is moving back to the Extreme risk level on Friday February 26. “Rather than have very limited outside seating in the wintery weather, we have decided to turn our focus onto our new Boutique grocery, gift shop and for the first time ever an Airbnb,” Parrott House Owner Heidi Lael said. “People have begged to have an opportunity to stay in our Haunted House. Last year the Parrot House closed for five months after the pandemic began and then reopened, and then closed for another month. “We’re willing to do our part again. But we’re going to come back stronger,” Lael said. “We’ve found some creative ways so in the future our retail grocery store can stay open and people can buy and sit out on our property and of course stay overnight at the Airbnb.” Eat, stop, stay, spend a weekend will be the theme of the Airbnb which should be ready to open in the next week or so. The Parrott Refinery – Refined Goods for Refined People is the theme of the store which will open in about two weeks. “Will have food items, specialty items, wine, pre-mixed drinks to go, cooking oils, items from France and Italy, to locally grown food in Oregon along with goods,” Lael said. “Anything that pairs with food, wine, dining, etc. It’ll be a fun place to stop and shop. They can grab food and sit. It’s pretty amazing.”
