UVC Boys Soccer Team Defeats Douglas 8-0
The Umpqua Valley Christian boys soccer team beat Douglas 8-0 Tuesday at Fir Grove Field. Koby Sewall and Sam Guastaferro both had hat tricks for the Monarchs. UVC (2-0) had 12 shots on goal, while the Monarchs goalie Nathan York had one save and the team totalled seven assists. Senior Blake Withers also added a goal and four assists for the Monarchs. The game ended after the eight goal difference due to a new rule implemented by the OSAA. Senior Evan Buechley also had a goal and one assist for UVC. Sewall and Pierce Gettys both added an assist. "We played a strong possesive game, it was in our attacking third most of the game," UVC coach Chris Guastaferro said. "Although they transitioned the ball into our defensive side several times."
