Aviva Health To Hold North County Covid-19 Vaccination Event This Thursday

(Aviva Health) ROSEBURG, Ore. – Aviva Health is holding another COVID-19 mass-vaccination event, this time for North County citizens ages 45 and over with underlying conditions, Thursday, April 1, from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., at the Drain Civic Center, 205 W A Ave., in the town of Drain. Event organizers plan to vaccinate as many as 150 North County residents currently eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine living in and around the towns of Elkton, Yoncalla and Drain, regardless of whether they are currently Aviva Health patients. To register, eligible North County residents must call (541) 672-9596 to schedule an appointment for the vaccine. “Up until now, demand for the vaccine has outpaced supply, and with logistical issues like refrigeration requirements complicating delivery to remote areas of the county, it’s been difficult to plan these types of events in hard-to-reach communities,” says KC Bolton, CEO of Aviva Health. “Recently, though, vaccine delivery to our county has increased and we’ve gained resources like transportable vaccine refrigerators to ensure we’re getting vaccinations out in an equitable fashion.” This large-scale effort to vaccinate the community again involves a variety of other agencies, including the Douglas County Commissioners, Douglas County COVID-19 Response Team (DCCRT), and Douglas Public Health Network (DPHN). “Aviva has been a great local partner during this pandemic. They have developed creative strategies for vaccine distribution to reach the masses, including outreach to our rural residents. Douglas County is blessed to have organizations like Aviva that are willing and able to help us provide vaccine solutions. We want to thank them for their continued support during this very important pandemic mission,” commented Commissioner Tim Freeman. It was the Douglas County Commissioners who opened the door – quite literally – for Aviva Health to establish a primary care clinic in Drain by leasing an unused county-owned building to the organization. The clinic opened in the summer of 2019 and has since been a valuable resource for people who call North County home. Aviva Health intends to replicate this vaccine event in the communities of Sutherlin, Myrtle Creek and Glide in the coming weeks. “Our goal is simple: to offer COVID-19 vaccinations to as many Douglas County residents as possible,” Bolton says. “We’ll keep going as long as we have to in order to protect our family, friends and neighbors.”
