Bootleg Fire Producing Pyrocumulus Clouds This Afternoon

12:22 AM · Jul 15, 2021

The fire update this afternoon is the Bootleg Fire and the new Log Fire which is 6 miles NE of the Bootleg Fire. It was several smaller fires that merged together into one fire and it's now at 2,800 acres. There is a red flag warning (gusts up to 30 mph possible) in the area around the Bootleg Fire today and for good reason. The fire just blew up again and 3-4 pyrocumulus clouds can now be seen in the fire. They can cause strong, gusty, erratic winds and sometimes lightning. Creates really sketchy firefighting conditions.
