Water Restrictions in Sutherlin Lifted After Treatment Plant Repairs

7:06 PM · Jul 30, 2021

The Sutherlin area water restrictions mandated by the state water master have been lifted after repairs to the Nonpareil water treatment plant were completed. Being that we are in the greatest drought in memory, the city is still asking residents to voluntarily make restriction efforts. Here is the notice the City of Sutherlin posted on their website: "Water Restrictions previously mandated by the State Water Master have been lifted for Sutherlin residents! Effective immediately! Due to continuing drought conditions, the City of Sutherlin is asking residents to voluntarily conserve water. For example: Watering lawns and flower gardens every other day; using nozzles on hoses when washing vehicles, boats, RV's etc. and only when necessary. Food garden watering is allowed! Central Park will remain watered and the Splash Pad will remain open (with restricted hours) from 12-7 p.m. for now, for community use." Here is the noticed that was sent out to Sutherlin residents by the City of Sutherlin: "We thank you all for your cooperation with water restrictions enacted on 7/23/21. The Nonpareil Water Treatment Plant repairs are now complete; previous State mandated water restrictions are no longer required. However, as we are experiencing the greatest drought in memory, we ask that you make voluntary restriction efforts to use water wisely. For example, water your lawn less than usual and when using water, make every effort to conserve. Finally, as these extreme drought conditions continue, additional curtailment requests may be required. Thank you for your understanding. We will continue to send updates throughout the drought season."
