Roseburg Man Recognized For Assisting Firefighters
On August 6, 2021, at about 12:55 a.m., a fire started on the exterior of the Rodeo Steakhouse on Garden Valley Blvd. Zack Martinez, working his shift at the nearby Carl’s Jr. restaurant, was taking out garbage after closing up. Zack saw the fire starting on the outer wall of the Rodeo Steakhouse and immediately called 911, directing responding firefighters to the scene and making sure they had all the information they needed to suppress the fire before it did serious damage to the building. Today, members of the Roseburg Fire Department met with Zack and presented him with a Certificate of Appreciation and an official Roseburg Fire Department Challenge Coin. Fire Chief Monte Bryan personally thanked Zack for his quick thinking and his service to the community. “If Zack had not seen the small fire and called 911 when he did,” said Chief Bryan, “the Rodeo Steakhouse would most likely have suffered significant damage before our firefighters were alerted and responded. We are grateful for Zack and folks like him who step up and help our first responders in times of need.” Via Roseburg Fire Department
