Mercantile Fire Knocked Down by Local Crews

On Thursday, August 11, 2022, at approximately 2:30 pm., crews from the Douglas Forest Protective Association (DFPA) and Glide Rural Fire Protection District responded to a natural cover fire located near the 14000 block of the North Umpqua Highway in Roseburg, OR. The forward spread of the estimated 0.25-acre fire was quickly knocked down with helicopter and strategic initial attack resources. By 4:30 pm, DFPA crews had 70% of the heat suppressed and will continue to work diligently throughout the evening until containment is 100%. The cause of the fire is human caused and currently under investigation. via DFPA
