The Oregon Athletic Coaches Association has selected Roseburg High School's Nathan Eckman for Oregon’s National Federation of High Schools 2021-22 Coach of the Year award for Boys Cross Country. A message from Mr. Eckman: "It’s been such a joy and an honor to have coached at RHS for all of these years. We have such a great support team at RHS, which consists of our amazing AD and number one cheerleader, Russ Bolin; April Labahn, our business office secretary who helps us order all of our uniforms and supplies; Marci Michael, who works behind the scenes in the athletic office as our incredible athletic director secretary; and our wonderful trainer, Lindsey Daron. I co-coach with five of the most dedicated and giving human beings as well. My assistant coaches are Ricky Logsdon, who is a local youth pastor; Heidi Eichman teaches history and econ at RHS; Sarah Agsten, a local doctor; Jenna Maddux is an ER nurse; and my longtime assistant, Jill Pettibone, who works as a chiropractic assistant. The six of us love to coach cross country and have really enjoyed watching our athletes improve over the years. At the end of the day, coaching cross country, in my mind, is about giving kids the wings to take risks and to learn how to push themselves.” Via Roseburg Public Schools
