As I've learned more information about Tuesday's events at our local schools, I feel more gratitude is in order. We have exceptional leaders and teachers in our local school districts who did an incredible job handling a tough situation. Our local law enforcement officers in Roseburg, Douglas County, and all the surrounding area officers that responded did a remarkable job. They had received false reports that students had been harmed and they responded accordingly. This was a very personal event for many of the responders who had family and friends in these schools. This wasn't just difficult for students, staff, and parents, it was also very difficult for all our local first responders. We have an amazing law enforcement community here! Thank you to everyone who responded and supported our local students and staff on Tuesday. We are very grateful to each and every one of you! 💙
