Garden Valley Farmers Market: Year-Round Indoor Marketplace Opens May 7th

3:07 AM · Apr 18, 2023

The Garden Valley Farmers Market, a new indoor year-round market, is set to open on Sunday, May 7th at the Riversdale Grange, 4855 Garden Valley Rd., Roseburg. Lori Proctor, the market manager, has announced that the market will operate every Sunday from 11 am to 3 pm, providing a convenient shopping experience after church or on a weekend with family. Proctor, who has over a decade of experience in farmers markets in Sonoma County, is passionate about connecting local communities with the people who grow and produce their food. She believes in the positive impact that a thriving farmers market can have on the local economy and promoting the variety of products offered by small businesses. The market will feature vendors from Douglas County, with most being local to the Roseburg area. Visitors can expect to find a diverse selection of products, including beef, lamb, pork, chicken, produce, garden starts, and supplies, as well as prepared meals, custom hand-dyed yarn, baked goods, breads, canned pickles, jams, salsas, eggs, soap, lotion, custom skincare lines, honey, fresh seafood, tumblers, t-shirts, and tea towels. Seasonal fruits will also be available. To kick off the grand opening, the first market will feature a "meet your vendor" scavenger hunt with prizes. Each week, a newsletter will be distributed, highlighting a new vendor and providing recipes and information on upcoming market events. Shoppers can also participate in a gift basket raffle worth $50, with a chance to win for every $10 spent at the market. Potential vendors interested in joining the Garden Valley Farmers Market can contact Lori Proctor through the markets Facebook group at https://www.facebook.com/groups/565223882077382.
