Drug dealing and the overdose crisis have gotten so bad in San Francisco that California is now sending in the National Guard and state highway patrol to help combat the fentanyl crises they've enabled. In an age of fentanyl and even more powerful drugs, "harm reduction" and "housing first" are utterly ineffective and things are only getting worse. We need to give addicts mandated drug treatment and get them into recovery. Once fentanyl is involved, an individual will almost never choose recovery on their own. They need a system of care outside of themselves that is willing to do the hard thing and step in and disrupt the self-destructive path. Until we drastically change our approach, we can expect things to continue to get worse. Sadly, this means a lot more people are going to die of overdoses while we "care" for them to death. https://www.oregonlive.com/nation/2023/04/highway-patrol-national-guard-to-help-san-francisco-with-fentanyl-drug-crisis.html
