6:58 PM · May 11, 2023

Roseburg Parks and Recreation Department has announced that the much-awaited Fir Grove Park Splash Pad will open its doors for the summer season on Saturday, May 27. The department's diligent teams have been hard at work, ensuring that the splash pad is ready for the community's enjoyment. The 4,000-gallon water tank has been meticulously cleaned and filled, the water feature nozzles updated, and the ultraviolet water treatment system, designed to eliminate any lingering algae or bacteria post-filtration, has been thoroughly rebuilt. Parks Superintendent, Brendon DeMuth, expressed gratitude for the dedicated parks staff, saying, "The hard work and dedication of our parks staff ensures the splash pad operates effectively." A popular attraction during the hot summer months, the splash pad is located behind the Umpqua Valley Arts Center, at 1624 W. Harvard Ave. The pad offers free, interactive water fun daily from Memorial Day Weekend through Labor Day, operating from 10 a.m. until dusk. Roseburg Parks and Recreation Program Manager, Val Ligon, shared her enthusiasm, stating, "We're thrilled about the upcoming opening of the splash pad! This park is a fantastic asset to our community, providing a space to enjoy and cool off throughout the summer." Given the limited shade in the area, Parks and Recreation staff are advising visitors to come prepared with sunscreen to protect against the summer sun. The department looks forward to welcoming residents to enjoy the park's offerings this summer season.
