65-year-old Myrtle Creek Man Arrested for Murder of Woman in Green
10:00 PM · Jun 19, 2023On Friday, June 16, 2023, a 65-year-old man, David Foster Coder, was arrested for the alleged murder of his daughter-in-law in Douglas County. The incident occurred in the early morning at a residence in the Green District. Amy Jo Coder, 47, was found critically injured by deputies and medical personnel responding to a 9-1-1 call. The call reported a shooting incident at Amy's home in the 100-block of Adams Loop. She was rushed to Mercy Medical Center with a gunshot wound and later transferred to another facility. Unfortunately, Amy succumbed to her injuries on Sunday afternoon. David Foster Coder, a resident of Myrtle Creek, was identified as the suspected shooter. He was apprehended and taken into custody within 30 minutes of the initial emergency call. David was initially charged with Attempted Murder, Assault I, and Unlawful Use of a Weapon. Following Amy's death, these charges have been updated to include Murder. The Douglas County Major Crimes Team is investigating the homicide. This team consists of investigators from the Douglas County Sheriff's Office, Roseburg Police Department, and Oregon State Police, in collaboration with the Douglas County District Attorney's Office. The Sheriff's Office is leading the investigation.
