Fall Creek Falls Trail Closed for Hazard Tree Removal: April 3-4, Wednesdays until May 15
6:31 PM · Apr 3, 2024The Umpqua National Forest has announced that the Fall Creek Falls Trail will be closed on Wednesday, April 3, and Thursday, April 4, for hazard tree removal. Following this week, the trail will continue to be closed every Wednesday until May 15 to allow for the removal of hazardous trees killed by the 2020 Archie Creek Fire. These trees pose a safety risk to the public and trail infrastructure. While the Umpqua National Forest does not typically remove hazard trees along trails, focusing instead on viewing areas and parking lots where people tend to linger, the high public use and numerous scenic viewpoints along the Fall Creek Falls Trail have prompted the decision to remove these trees. Removed trees will remain on site, and forest silviculturists will help replant these areas as soon as the felling operation is complete. The closure schedule is as follows: April 3, 4, 10, 17, 24, and May 1, 8, 15. For any questions or concerns, please contact Wayne Chevalier at (541) 825-3100.
