Jerry Bruce Community Campus to Hold Second Annual Trunk-or-Treat
12:03 AM · Oct 27, 2023ROSEBURG, Ore. – Jerry Bruce Community Campus (JBCC) partner organizations Family Development Center, The FISH Food Pantry, Umpqua Homes, Inc., United Community Action Network, and Aviva Health are holding a Trunk-or-Treat for local families Saturday, October 28, from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m., in the Aviva Health parking lot, 150 NE Kenneth Ford Drive. More than 30 staff members from the partner organizations are volunteering their time and trunks to hand out store-purchased, individually wrapped candy or toys to children and their families in attendance. Children and their parents or guardians are encouraged to wear family friendly costumes to add more Halloween spirit to the event. “This is a great opportunity for our non-profit campus partners to engage with area families and have a really fun time while doing it,” says Mark Tsuchiya, marketing and development director at Aviva Health. “Even with some rain, last year’s Trunk-or-Treat was well attended, and we’re looking forward to another great turnout this year.” The Aviva Health parking lot on the west side of the facility where the Trunk or Treat takes place will be closed to vehicle traffic for the safety of families and volunteers attending the event. Those who attend can park in the lot on the east side of the Aviva Health building and Aviva Health employee parking located in the northeast corner of the Costco parking lot. In recent years, JBCC non-profit partner organizations have made an intentional effort to collaborate more closely, realizing that an integrated approach to service delivery offers a greater benefit to the people they serve. “As one of our campus leaders likes to say, ‘At the JBCC, there is no wrong door,’” Tsuchiya says. “No matter which organization first makes contact with a client, if a need is identified that can be addressed by one of our other partner non-profits, a warm hand-off occurs to ensure that person has access to all the resources they require.” The invigorated focus on enhanced collaboration on campus has led to community outreach events like Trunk-or-Treat. Earlier this year, the campus also hosted the inaugural Hope Springs Eternal event, another family oriented affair that featured fun activities, live performances, food, and a raffle that was attended by more than 1,000 community members. Planning has already begun for the 2024 spring event, which organizers anticipate will be even bigger than the previous year. Via Aviva Health
