Oregon Governor Brown Visits Roseburg Studmill Today
8:05 PM · Sep 13, 2019Oregon Governor Kate Brown made a stop late this morning at a Roseburg Studmill owned by Swanson Group off of Old Highway 99 south. The mill tour was apparently before a listening session to hear from natural resource industry representatives on the cap and trade legislation. The cap and trade bill proposed putting a cap on greenhouse gas emissions, but many in the timber industry said that the bill would be harmful to rural businesses Demonstrators greeted her as she arrived around 10:45am in her large motorcade with State Police escort. After touring parts of the mill, she left around 45 minutes later. Several local leaders were present at the event beforehand including commissioners Tom Kress and Tim Freeman as well as Sheriff John Hanlin and Undersheriff Jeff Frieze.
