Inside Look: Roseburg's Con-Vey Unveils Innovative Automated Panel Repair System

In this video, Con-Vey Vice President Jeremy Goebel shares the exciting news about their Panel Repair Edge-Damming System that they have built. Roseburg, OR — Con-Vey, a leading manufacturer of industrial automation, has unveiled a groundbreaking Panel Repair System designed to streamline and automate the process of plywood edge panel repairs. Traditionally done manually, panel repairs have long been time-consuming and labor-intensive. Con-Vey’s new system changes that by using advanced vision technology and robotics to detect and fill defects on panel edges with high precision. The system identifies imperfections using a sophisticated scanner and automatically deploys robotic tools to repair them. Once defects are detected, plugs are cut and installed automatically, minimizing human error and boosting consistency. The fully automated process not only reduces labor requirements but also increases production speed and accuracy. The system is compatible with various panel types and integrates easily into existing production lines. Operators can monitor and adjust the system through a user-friendly interface, ensuring minimal downtime and maximum efficiency. Con-Vey says the technology is built with flexibility in mind, allowing customizations to suit specific manufacturing needs. With this innovation, Con-Vey aims to help wood product manufacturers increase throughput, reduce waste, and meet rising quality standards—all while lowering operating costs.

Oregon Drought-Free for the First Time Since 2017

Oregon Drought-Free for the First Time Since 2017

As of March 30, 2025, Oregon's snowpack shows excellent water conditions, with the state officially free from drought for the first time since 2017. The U.S. Drought Monitor now shows no drought across Oregon. In the Umpqua District, the Rogue-Umpqua watershed reports a Snow Water Equivalent (SWE) at 150% of the median (1991-2020), reflecting a healthy snowpack that supports water resources for rivers, streams, and local agriculture. Nearby, the Upper Deschutes-Crooked watershed is at 138%, and the Klamath watershed at 170%, indicating strong water availability throughout the region. Statewide, Oregon’s watersheds mostly range between 130% and 176% of the median, with the John Day watershed highest at 176%. The Willamette watershed, vital to much of the population, stands at 115%, ensuring ample water supply. A robust snowpack means healthy streamflows for wildlife, including salmon, and fewer water restrictions for farmers and residents. Overall, Oregon and the Umpqua District can celebrate a bright water outlook in 2025. *Data Source: USDA NRCS SNOTEL Network, March 30, 2025; U.S. Drought Monitor, March 2025.*
