The 1A Days Creek girls basketball team upset 2A Oakland 37-30 Tuesday night in a nonleague game at the Nut House.

Days Creek (3-0) was led by Moriah Michaels who had 15 points, four rebounds and three assists while going 2-2 from 3-point range. Joleen Crume added nine points and 11 rebounds while Ashtyn Slater had nine rebounds and three points. Taylor Yard had 12 points to lead Oakland (1-2). Days Creek led 16-8 after the first quarter and 22-9 at halftime. But the Oakers cut the lead down to 29-22 after the third quarter after matching up in a man to man defense which the Wolves struggled with initially. In the first half the Oakers were playing a zone defense. “We played okay tonight we have a lot to learn. We had some moments of excellence and some moments of silliness.” Days Creek coach Matt Crume said. Days Creek ended with 29 turnovers. Days Creek plays Damascus Christian on Friday at 3 p.m. in the Cougar Classic at Country Christian high school. Oakland plays at North Douglas on Wednesday at 6 p.m. in a nonleague game.
