Roseburg Cinema Reopens

7:10 PM · Feb 9, 2021

Two months after closing for Covid-19, Roseburg Cinema is open again. The theater closed by state mandate and did movie snacks to go until the county risk level and the available movies aligned to make it possible and reasonable to reopen. It is one of only three movie theaters open in the state according to the Facebook page. “We could have opened a few weeks ago,” Vice President of Operations, Daryn McLennan said. “We made a decision about when we would have a good flow of movies coming out.” The theater opened on Friday and will be open Friday through Monday. Currently showing is Wonder Woman 1984, News of the World, The Croods; A New Age, Promising Young Woman, The Marksman, and Monster Hunter. Times can be found at roseburgcinemas.com When Covid-19 initially caused businesses to close in March, movie studios delayed their release dates, so the availability of new movies has been limited. Now Roseburg Cinema has a lineup with one or two new movies per week. McLennan said the theater is part of a nationwide collective of cinemas that agreed to follow strict standards of cleanliness to protect their patrons and used the hashtag #CinemaSafe to show their support for opening within the guidelines. More information about the guidelines can be found at cinemasafe.org.
