Casa de Belen Bike Shop Closing

10:09 PM · Sep 2, 2021

Umpqua Valley Bicycle Outreach is closing the bike shop at Casa de Belen and selling through their inventory through the end of September. The shop is open Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 1-5 p.m. The shop has bikes, parts, apparel, accessories and other bike-related items. The Casa De Belen Bike Shop was created as a work experience site for youth in the community as well as homeless or unaccompanied minors living at Casa De Belen. They could get access to affordable transportation, as well as internships/apprenticeships where they could gain real-time work experience to prepare them for the workforce. The shop depended on volunteers who showed up to help youth create and achieve short and long-term healthy personal goals; From money management to healthy eating habits, they saw various youth grow. The bike shop is currently transitioning to the Umpqua Valley Bicycle Outreach mobile trailer. They are working on a partnership with Faith and Family Relationship Advocates in their upcoming transitional living space but it will look different as the organization assesses the needs of the youth in the program and in the community. Address: 1199 NE Grandview Dr. Hours: Tues., Thurs., Fri., 1-5p.m.
