The 7th annual Kids Safety Day is happening Saturday, July 23 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Costco parking lot. This year, the CHI Mercy Health event is focused on water safety and will give parents and kids an opportunity to connect with health providers, emergency responders, and other community leaders.

Drowning is the leading cause of injury-related deaths in children less than 4 years old, and the third leading cause of unintentional injury-related deaths in children less than 19 years of age. Kids Safety Day works to reduce the instances of drowning through education and supporting responders.

There will not be a helicopter this year, but there will be giveaways and activities to connect kids with being safe around the water.
