NY Urban Pizza Opens in Downtown Roseburg

The casual dining and lounge space called NY Urban Pizza opened today, Tuesday. Part owner Tatyana Abrahime said the first day was going well. "Taking it person by person, seeing how it goes," Abrahime said. The Brix owners moved some of their employees from next door to the new spot so now there are about 18 people in each restaurant. They are looking for cooks for both places. NY Urban Pizza has a more casual dining atmosphere than its sister restaurant Brix. There are TVs behind the bar, brighter lights, and the waitresses said it's more relaxed. The Abrahime family didn't wait long to bring a little piece of home to Downtown Roseburg. Abrahime's husband moved to New York City from his home in the Middle East to study and started working at a pizza place when he was 16 years old. Ever since, he has run a restaurant everywhere he has lived and he wanted to own a pizza place like he did in New York in Roseburg. "We had restaurants in New York, Pennsylvania, Las Vegas, San Diego, so now we are here. That's why we wanted to do it, because that's what he's done his whole life," Abrahime said. "He's very specific with his recipe. We will have not only pizza but appetizers like chicken wings, chicken fingers, mozzarella sticks, then we'll have lasagna as well as spaghetti. It will be a pretty big menu." Abrahime said she's looking forward to bringing more to the nightlife scene in Roseburg. They have a small stage they hope to utilize for music, disco-tech style dancing and comedy nights. "We are creating a fun place to be," Abrahime said.
