Remembering Milford Lafayette McClain

Milford (Mac) L. McClain, age 96, of Roseburg, went home to be with the Lord on Dec. 2, 2022, surrounded by his loving family. Milford was born in Mt. Pine, Arkansas on Oct. 20, 1926, to Bertie and Della (Branum) McClain. Mac is survived by his loving wife of 74 years Juanita McClain. Three children: Michael McClain, Kathy McLaughlin, and Charles (Pam) McClain. His six grandchildren: Ryan Anderson, Megan (Mitchell) Hodges, Brittany (Sam) Nogales, Bianca (David) Sweet, Bridgette (Mike) Meyers and Donald (Kara) McLaughlin Jr. 15 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. His three nieces Linda Harrison, Wanda Tropf, Helen Kiser and many other nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Elza McClain; son-in-law Donald McLaughlin Sr.; and granddaughter Sara Anderson Lancaster. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from January 1945 to August 1946. He always said, "Once a Marine, always a Marine." He was very proud of his service. Mac married Juanita Mooney, Sept. 12, 1948, in Hot Springs, Arkansas. They moved to Oregon in 1949 for better job opportunities, settling first in Brownsville, then relocating to Roseburg. He was very proud of his career at Roseburg Forest Products. Where he started his career by pulling green chain and through hard work he was promoted to foreman and lastly Superintendent of Sawmill 2 in Dillard, until his retirement in 1992. After his retirement he was delighted to return to work for Mr. Ford as a consultant In Anderson, California. Mac spent the rest of his retirement enjoying time with his wife Juanita and spending time with his family, often taking road trips to visit his son and grandchildren in California. Until his death he was always known as the grandpa with a good joke. Mac and Juanita were members of the First Conservative Baptist Church and were faithful in attendance.
