At 9 a.m., in Stewart Park’s large pavilion, Roseburg Parks and Recreation staff will host the kick-off event for the Discover Roseburg 12 Land of Umpqua Geocache Series -- a free, family-friendly event. Parks and Rec staff will give out verbal instructions and coordinate-containing “passports” for a high-tech geocaching treasure hunt. Bring a smartphone or other device equipped with a Global Positioning System, or satellite-based radio navigation system, so you can hunt for 5 real-world geocaches, plus 15 virtual geocaches at special locations.
