The North Douglas volleyball team took second place in the Les Schwab Invitational Tournament at Reedsport high school on Saturday.

The Warriors (6-3, 1-0) lost to Coquille in the Championship match 23-25, 20-25. North Douglas defeated Glide 13-25, 25-23, 15-11 and Reedsport 24-26, 25-19, 15-8 to get into the title match. “We are still working on our consistency as a team,” North Douglas coach Emily Reed said. “We have times where we play really great volleyball and then there are times where we’re still beating ourselves by making a lot of mistakes.” Brooklyn Williams had nine kills for North Douglas on the day. Halli Vaughn had 18 kills while Natalie Draeger had eight kills in the tournament. Nicki Derrick added 10 kills and Rilie-jo Olds had 12 kills for the Warriors. Samantha MacDowell had 69 digs between the three matches for North Douglas. “But overall the girls really battled and have shown that they’re tough and are not going to give up without a fight.” Reed said. North Douglas resumes Skyline League play on Tuesday at New Hope Christian at 6 p.m. After losing to North Douglas in the first match, Glide (1-7) bounced back with a straight two set victory over Oakridge. Then the Wildcats lost in two straight sets to Pleasant Hill. Glide opens up Southern Cascade League play on Tuesday night at Lakeview at 5:15 p.m.
