UVC Boys Soccer Bounces Back and Defeats Gold Beach 6-0

The UVC boys soccer team bounced back from their defeat to Brookings in a big way. They jumped out to a 5-0 halftime lead over Gold Beach. Sam Guastaferro had four of UVC's five first half goals with Joe Buechley picking up the other goal. In the second half, UVC was on cruise control and picked up a very nice goal on a header by Pierce Gettys. Josh Salshenburg had 3 saves for UVC to keep Gold Beach scoreless. UVC Coach Chris Guastaferro was pleased with how his team bounced back. "We played a solid game. We had a strategy to possess the ball in middle third, and when the time felt right, to attack. We really wanted to break up their midfield and defense, to spread them apart. That allowed us to capitalize on the holes that they would leave. " "Gold Beach, they have a great group of kids, really respect them and their coach and their staff." UVC next plays Douglas at home at Fir Grove on Tuesday the 24th at 4pm.
