The Umpqua Community College women’s volleyball team fell to Lane Wednesday night in straight sets in a Northwest Athletic Conference Southern region match. “The RiverHawks struggled with hitting errors in set one against Lane,” UCC coach Lacy Pinard said. “Set two they started to rally with our front and back line defense stepping up and shutting down the Titan offense. Unfortunately the RiverHawks could not push past unforced errors.” Set scores were 25-12, 26-24, 25-17. The Riverhawks (16-13, 2-6) have eight southern region matches remaining in the regular season. Lane (17-8, 8-1) sits in second place in the southern region and has won four matches in a row. “We just finished our first round of league with Lane and our goal is to learn, clean up and push our offense and tempo for the second round,” Pinard said. “We have a lot of work to do but we still have a chance to recover for NWAC's.” UCC hosts Clackamas on Saturday at 2 p.m.
