Griess made a left turn into his driveway and never saw Uwekoolani, until he hit him head on in the roadway. No one was injured and Griess' vehicle appeared to be totaled with heavy front end damage. Uwekoolani's vehicle suffered moderate front end damage, but was still drivable. During the investigation it was discovered Uwekoolani had no operator's license.
