Roseburg Wrestling Takes Second at Oregon Classic
7:05 AM · Jan 19, 2020The No. 2 Roseburg Wrestling team took second place in the Oregon Classic in Redmond on Saturday. The Indians lost to No. 1 Newberg 51-21 in the final. "We wrestled so well the first five matches, had a lot of good individual wins and team scores were very dominant," Roseburg coach Steve Lander said. "Our final match was not a good effort against a very good team so the score got out of hand. Didn't wrestle our best and some of our kids rushed or forced techniques trying to stop Newberg's momentum." Roseburg defeated Oregon City 78-0 in the quarterfinal and downed No. 4 Mt. View 44-12 in the semifinal. Roseburg continues Southwest Conference competition Thursday at Grants Pass at 7 p.m. Photo courtesy of Kim Root.
