Roseburg Wrestling Wins SWC District Championship

The Roseburg wrestling team won the Southwest Conference District championship Saturday night at South Medford high school. Roseburg finished with 494 points while Grants Pass came in second place with 432. Winners in their respective weight classes for Roseburg were Cameron Cross at 113, Nash Singleton at 120, Kahleb Diaz at 126, Archer Bergeron at 145, Colin Rietmann at 160, Darian Thacker at 170, Rogan Coffman at 195 and Hunter Blix at 220. Roseburg head coach Steve Lander was also voted Coach of the Year in the Southwest Conference. "We're excited for all of our qualifiers and looking forward to them competing at State," Lander said. "I've always viewed coach of the year as Coaching staff of the year. We have a lot of people with a hand in our success, lots of help and a super fan base. Thanks to everyone for your support, time and energy!" In total Roseburg qualified 16 wrestlers for the State tournament. The Indians will now prepare for the state tournament on February 28 and 29 at Veterans Memorial Coliseum where they will look to win their seventh straight state championship.
