Roseburg Salvation Army Offers Assistance to Local Children

8:55 PM · Apr 21, 2020

The Salvation Army of Roseburg is offering school supplies and birthday gifts to help families during the Covid-19 pandemic. With kids staying home and doing school work remotely, the Salvation Army wanted to help provide students who don’t have supplies like spiral notebooks, pencils, crayons, glue, markers and colored pencils. “The reason for the assistance is due to the Covid-19 situation and the lack of work available for the residents of Douglas County,” Salvation Army Captain Kristy Church said. “Normally the school supplies are done for the month of August. But since we have some left over from last year and we know the kids are now at home, we figured we can help the families with some supplies that we have.” If you need any of these items, please contact Katrina at 541.248.2587 The Salvation Army will need the student’s name, birth date and the school they are attending for this assistance. They are also helping provide birthday gifts for children ages 1-12. If your child’s birthday is coming up, they ask that you call 541-248-2585. “The birthday assistance is new,” Church said. “Again with the lack of work, we figured some families don’t have the money to buy the kids gifts during this time. It is for those that have a birthday within the week and we will give random gifts appropriate for the child.” Parents or guardians must be able to bring in proof of their child’s birth date. If you have guardianship, they ask that you bring that in as well. The main office phone number for the Salvation Army is 541-672-6581 and their address is 3130 NE Stephens Street, Roseburg, OR 97470.
