Sheep Ranch Opens Today at Bandon Dunes Golf Resort

8:32 PM · Jun 1, 2020

The Sheep Ranch is a new golf course that opened today at Bandon Dunes Golf Resort. The land on which the new course sits was purchased in 2000 by Co-founders Mike Keiser the owner of the resort and Phil Friedman his longtime business partner. It was a mysterious landscape just north of the resort that had no prescribed routing. “They came up with the original shaping of the 13 greens sites of Pacific Dunes and it stayed that way for about 15 years, as an unconventional routing of holes,” Director of Communications Michael Chupka said. “Mike wasn’t getting any younger and said let’s partner up and make this the fifth course.” Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw renowned golf designers came in and did the rerouting of the golf course for over a year to bring the Par-72, 6,636 yard 18-hole course layout to life. It’s built on 140 acres with every single hole at the Sheep Ranch having an ocean view. With one mile of ocean frontage, nine green sites sit right along the edge of the Pacific Ocean with stunning views at every turn. The Sheep Ranch continues the legacy of “Golf As It Was Meant to Be” on the Pacific Coast. “We’re beyond excited for this day it’s been a long time coming, for the golf course to get where it is today and getting everyone out here to experience it,” Chupka said. “With a clubhouse and connected to the resort. It’s such a team effort were just so excited, it’s an amazing site to see. It’s a beautiful day out, it’s amazing.” On August 10-16 Bandon Dunes will host the 2020 United States Amateur, the oldest championship in the nation. The championship will be played on Bandon Trails and Bandon Dunes.
