Douglas County Receives Much Needed Rain But Warm Weather Set to Return
Most of Douglas County received over an inch of rain over the past 72 hours according to the National Weather Service out of Medford. It was very much needed as the area is still far below normal snow water equivalent levels. Even after the recent rain, Douglas County is at about 16% of its normal SWE levels putting the area in serious drought levels. Temperatures are set to slowly rise the rest of this week and could hit the mid to upper 90's by early next week. River temperatures are still pretty cold. The North Umpqua River at Winchester is currently in the low 60's though the temp should rise significantly over the next few weeks. Before this latest rainfall and cooler temps we had this past week, water temperatures in the North Umpqua River reached 75 degrees.
