7:14 PM · Jul 29, 2021

There is a lot going on with our weather over the next few days. Here are the latest advisories from the NWS in Medford for areas of Douglas County. The graphics in the images below that show which areas might be impacted. Excessive Heat Warning Another round of hot temperatures is in store for the area Thursday and Friday. Temperatures peak on Friday, then lower some over the weekend. Overnight temperatures will remain very warm as well during this time, and this will provide little to no relief for those without access to cooling resources. Make sure to stay hydrated and avoid strenuous activities during the hottest part of the day. Red Flag Warning A Red Flag Warning is in effect for portions of the area on Thursday for abundant lightning on dry vegetation. This will likely lead to new fire starts and gusty thunderstorm winds could contribute to fire spread. Thunderstorm Threat Southerly flow will bring daily thunderstorm chances through at least the weekend, however, activity will peak on Thursday and Friday. Gusty winds and small hail will be possible with any thunderstorm along with dangerous lightning. If you have outdoor plans, seek shelter if you hear thunder. Remember “When thunder roars, go indoors!” Also be sure to have multiple ways to receive forecasts and warnings.
