Hooded Merganser Rescue at Fords Pond in Sutherlin

The other night I received a message about a Hooded Merganser entangled in fishing line with a fishing hook through its bill out at Fords Pond in Sutherlin. So Abraham and I went out and were able to float out into the pond and rescue the bird! Big shout out to Roseburg City Manager Nikki Messenger and her husband Bob for reaching out to us on their walk and waiting around and directing us right to the entangled bird! Your response definitely helped save its life! It's also a great reminder that bird and wildlife rescue is a community effort.
