Monday Morning Fire Update; Potter and Windigo Fires Burning 1,900 Acres

The Potter ๐Ÿ”ฅ Fire 8 Miles NE of Clearwater, OR is a lightning-cause fire that is currently at 400 acres and 0% containment. Forebay 1 ๐Ÿ”ฅ: Approximately 4 acres just north of Lemolo 1 forebay The Windigo ๐Ÿ”ฅ Fire 20 miles SW of La Pine, OR is 1,500 acres and 0% contained. There are evacuations in effect and road, trail, and area closures. Weather The heat dome continued to keep temperatures above average. Humidities improved slightly west of the Cascades to the 30 and 40% range, while east of the Cascades, humidities were primarily in the 15 to 20% range with some locations reporting single digits. Afternoon and evening thunderstorms produced 874 lightning strikes starting south of Grants Pass moving northeast towards Baker City. Thunderstorms produced light precipitation and gusty outflow winds. Temperatures will be a bit cooler today with gradual cooling continuing through Thursday as a couple of upper-level disturbances move through the region. Thunderstorms chances continue today across much of Oregon with lesser chances in eastern Washington, then become more restricted to central and eastern Oregon Tuesday and beyond. The east side of the Cascades remain at elevated potential with red flag conditions persisting through Tuesday. As increased cloud cover and wetter thunderstorms move in, fire danger will decrease, though holdover fires are possible. A Type 2 incident management team has been ordered to manage these fires in addition to the Potter Fire on the Willamette National Forest. Additional firefighting resources are also on order. A Temporary Flight Restriction (TFR) is in place over the fire areas.
